For anyone wishing to be married in the Parish of Colvend, Southwick and Kirkbean: READ ON!
I look forward to having an opportunity of meeting with you, if you would like to be married in either Colvend or Southwick Churches. I wish you great happiness and joy as you begin to plan for the day of your Wedding. I am delighted you wish to be married in Church, for Christian Marriage is appointed by God : Old and New Testaments give the foundation: For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.
The Marriage Service in Church is the corner-stone of that commitment.
Christ is beside you as you enter this adventure together and always at hand to help you grow in love together.
Please be in touch with me to discuss your hopes for your Marriage and the Wedding Day itself.
With every best wish.
John Murdoch

Please find below some points to consider:
Matters to be Arranged Prior to the Wedding Day
Organisation of the Service-in consultation with the Minister and Organist -such as choice of hymns, readings, special music required.
Arrangements for flowers; ordering of wedding cars; arrangements for the Reception; plans for the honeymoon; choice of Best Man; choice of Bridesmaids; Legal Aspects; Wedding Fees
May I draw your attention in particular to legal aspects? Particularly Form M10 which you will see on-line and about which the Registrar will help.
You must each obtain a form giving notice of intention to marry from any Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages. These forms must be completed and submitted along with your Birth Certificates, and the appropriate fee to the Registrar for the Registration District { see below } in which the Marriage is to take place, at least twenty eight days before the date of the intended date of Marriage.
The Registrar will issue you with a Marriage Schedule within seven days before the proposed date of your wedding. At least one of you must attend personally to collect the Marriage Schedule.
The Marriage Schedule MUST be produced before the Marriage Ceremony to the Minister conducting the Ceremony (usually at the rehearsal).
Immediately after the ceremony the Marriage Schedule will be signed by husband and wife who MUST sign in her Maiden name.
and also by two witnesses, aged 16 or over, and by the Minister.
The Schedule must be returned to the Registrar within three days of the Marriage in order for the Marriage to be registered legally.
