George Mac Donald was an 19th century writer, poet, Christian teacher and mystic. Among the many who named him as a major literary and spiritual influence were C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, G. K. Chesterton, W. H. Auden, Walter de la Mare and Lewis Carroll. He wrote some of the most original fantasy found in English literature as well as stories for children.
The Searching Heart is an illustrated talk of his life and journey and about the deep influence he had in his time and continues to have today. It will be followed by an opportunity to explore some of the issues raised in small group discussions or to listen to extracts from his fantasy works. There is a buffet lunch for those able to stay. 10.00 coffee and welcome
